David Larson, Filip Bekic, Robert Magnus, and Frans Povel are the band, who recently released their debut album Goldrushedin their native Sweden. Here’s in the states, we got a taste of them with the Royal EP released in the early spring.
We’re a band from the new generation. We’re not the kind of group who goes into the studio for months and leaves with an album. We like to be in a constant state of development, trying new things. Whether we’re in the studio or on stage, we want to create magical moments. You should feel that joy and spontaneity.—David Larsion
They’ve been on tour with the likes of Imagine Dragons, Atlas Genius, and Alex Clare, while their song Lost In You has been featured on Tim Burton’s Frankenweenie soundtrack.
We cannot wait to catch them in two weeks for 91X’s Holiday Bonus Day concert. In preparation, we’re diving into some of their best songs:
We love the dance quality of this latest single. It’s edgier than most of their other songs, but equally as amazing.
“The song itself is about being the underdog and fighting your way to the top. That’s a special one for us because it urges to always keep going no matter what.”—Filip Bekic
Heavy, low synths start this song—and when combined with David’s low, almost whispering voice, World On Fire becomes instantly infectious and intimate. The song then adds another layer on top of that: an indie-pop quality that makes it the perfect dance party tune. The breakdown bridge calms it down to make it almost dreamlike, drawing you more in just as the chorus comes back. It easy to tell why it is a fan favorite
Slower, but just as perfect, Goldrushed is all about the power of David’s voice romancing you over a cool, euphoric background. It’s the perfect song to put on repeat to just chill to.
Finally, we of course have to leave you with a cover. This will have you thinking why you never thought of wanting a strong, indie-pop version of Daft Punk’s Digital Love. Tell me it’s not perfect, I dare you.
