Another great group hailing from New York, Active Bird Community just released their first single off their upcoming album I've Been Going Swimming. The track Pick Me Apart is a stellar representation of the group's off-center indie rock aesthetic, reminiscent of elements from pop-punk of the early 2000s but with a more contemporary and active edge. It's sort of an updated grunge for the 2015 alt soundscape. This infectious anthem carries longingly charismatic vocals--similar to those of Atlas Genius and Kings of Leon--over relentlessly soaring guitar riffs which create a very driving and dynamic product. The bright, warm texture makes it the perfect soundtrack for this summer-fall transition. Truly nothing feels better than this golden hour song.
