London exploratory alt-synth group TEDDY have just released their stellar second single entitled Fulfilling Romance. After much indie-acclaim following their debut track Happy Tim, TEDDY returns with a culturally ornate and an exquisitely intimate song about singer Tom Falle's coming out experience at the young age of 14. With incredible layered production perfectly capturing the narrative in its aural sentiments, the song flutters with guttural anxiety while soaring with easing relief. The lusciously ethereal melodies glide against a droning and effervescent New Wave foundation, while asserting dynamic strength in scintillating lyrical revelations such as, “I’m a man, and I’m a queen / and that’s the way it’s always been." I think Falle describes Fulfilling Romance best by stating, "In many senses it preaches the predictable, that it’s okay to be gay. But it also says it’s okay to be gay and wear a rugby shirt.” By defying musical convention in its quasi-experimental instrumentals yet maintaining ethos with effortless soul-pop roots, this track proclaims its message by being both uniquely innovative and representative of contemporary music culture. We're simply dazzled and invigorated with TEDDY's "defiant response to heteronormativity."
