If you didn't know, the primary definition of catholic is universal, all embracing. That's exactly the type of broad emotional journey that Catholic Radio takes you on with their latest The Last Summer Vol. 2 EP. It's a very invested testimonial of atmospheric introversion, where an earnest classic essence winds in a musing exploration. The songs on the release are very innovative for indie-rock, with both esoteric psychedelia and skeptical psychology inherent in the viscerally textured sound aesthetic. Reminiscent of influences The War of Drugs and the Pixies, the tracks are structured in twangy stream of consciousness, developing into compelling invocations of an alternative-infused spirituality. All is showcased in the lyrical existentialism that is Came Apart, that makes evident their well-crafted sensory imagery: "lost in a luxury delay of some other life." These Oklahoma by way of Oakland band of brothers truly captivate with a stunning collection of intimate musical confessions.
