Let’s keep this one simple—there’s a sense of nostalgia and triumph in the surf-punk infused alt-rock personality emanating from Alt Rising Acts SunGhosts. Their latest EP release, entitled Parhelion, combines fan-favorite tracks Polterguy and Til The City Goes Under, with new songs which do justice to the titular definition: “a bright spot in the sky appearing on either side of the sun.” These guys sure do know how to create bright music that provides warm nourishment to our ears. With funky riffage supporting the biting and witty intrigue captured in the album’s lyrical love revelations, this EP is reminiscent of Grouplove--had their coming-of-age angst overlooked the Florida horizon. Both Hydro Pump and BB Gun capture the group‘s standard intense directness, vocal charm, and infectious psych instrumentals. Parhelion is a resonating and passionate display of devotion and longing embodied in four vivacious oracles of modern infatuation. Do yourself a solid and stream/buy yourself a copy of this stellar “appetizer to our forthcoming album,” produced by Grammy award-winning producer Joel Someillan.

Brooklyn-based rockers, Inner Outlaws have released their April track off of their one-song-a-month project. We featured their March track The Mark and described it as an "amazing psych-rock/folk track that’s reminiscent of Fleetwood Mac but with a New York alt edge." On Suzanna, we get another taste of their 70s inspired vibe, but this time with a more stripped-down and euphoric Westernly twist on their psych-folk essence. The group reimagines the traditional-folk song Oh Susanna into a more bluesy-soul rock song with longing vocal lines and an edgy funk guitar breakdown to top it all off. Another impressive release by these eccentrically awesome folks, which you'll find out more from in the upcoming weeks here on IndieBeat.
