Previously going under the name MOVIE, London group Screaming Peaches have just released a new single off their upcoming Rough Music EP. Sad Kid is an addicting psych new-wave track, blending dynamic 80s electropop elements with a new-found alt funk edge. With a menacingly enticing guitar riff driving the sound, the song is highly reminiscent of both Franz Ferdinand and Pet Shop Boys with its liberating, bright texture and cerebral bite. Lead vocalist Theo Spark told UK based Clash Magazine: "the song's lyrics are an attempt to console myself and make myself feel better/laugh, and a gentle reminder never to take anything too seriously. I was also listening to lots of Michael Jackson so wanted to do a 'PYT' chanted chorus, hence S.A.D K.I.Ds in our chorus". Gotta say, it's the sonic equivalent to a summer's night strut down Sunset Blvd, an internal anthem with an anxious energy throughout. Make this your soundtrack and belt out that chorus with pride!
