Happy Record Release Day toAlt Rising Acts Captiva, who are premiering their debut self-titled EP right here on IndieBeat.
We previously described Captiva’s single Road To Ruin as “a more mature sound [for] the Kansas City group…this track carries a ruminating honesty with its captivating guitar riffs full of winding and warm sonic nostalgia.” |
If you truly want to understand what an experience this album is, look to the final track Sometimes which makes an apt meta description of the album: “Sometimes I take drugs. It feels like a high speed metronome, Senses are drowned out, vibrations of sound throughout my bones.” That drug seems very akin to the feeling listeners get upon hearing their songs, an easing effervescence with cerebral ruminations that are unique “way[s] to navigate around my head.”
The guys seem to have honed in their sound, with reflexive and meditative journal entries cast against winding and unexpected breakdowns of instrumental departures that can only be described as releases of passion, angst and longing embodied in guttural and scratchy riffs—a sort of sonic shuffling on a late-night/early-morning existential mind-bender. If you’re searching for genuine sounds with profound love-drug metaphors, vocal charm, and invigorating instrumental journeys, look no further than this late 2015 hit.
